treating arthritis pains

Arthritis is a painful condition that effects people of all ages. The pain in their joints prevents them from performing simple daily tasks and enjoying the activities they love. There are medications that can relieve the pain, and surgical solutions to remedy the most common types of arthritis, but most arthritis pain can be reduced with the proper diet.

Start treating your arthritis pains naturally by implementing any of these six foods into your diet.

Cherries

Cherries are effective at treating arthritis pain because of their high levels of anthocyanin (helps reduce joint inflammation). Cherry juice contains a healthy dose of anthocyanin, and drinking ten ounces of it twice a day has been found to significantly reduce arthritis pain.

Ginger

Ginger’s many health benefits include strong anti-inflammatory properties which have a soothing effect on arthritis pain. Good sources include teas, dried or candied ginger, and fresh grated ginger root. Sprinkle a teaspoon of grated ginger into juice for a refreshing drink, and effective pain reliever.

Fish

Research shows that fish and fish liver oil can help reduce arthritis pain by suppressing the cytokines and reducing the activity of cartilage eroding enzymes. This in turn treats joint inflammation, which reduces pain.

Olive Oil

Olive oil contains a substance called oleocanthal, which restricts the activity of inflammation causing enzymes. Add a tablespoon to salads to get the greatest benefit.

Vegetables

Red vegetables are typically a sign that they are full of antioxidants. Antioxidants reduce inflammation. Foods that contain a rich supply of antioxidants are sweet peppers, lemons, tomatoes, and green or red vegetables. These foods contain Vitamin C, selenium, carotenes and bioflavonoids which are effective antioxidants and help reduce inflammation.

Pork and Fish

Healthy bones make healthy joints. Strengthening bones requires a lot of vitamin D. Vitamin D is important because it helps your bones absorb calcium. Eating pork, salmon, eggs, mushrooms and drinking milk are all great sources of vitamin D.
