The United States is riddled with health problems because of America’s general attitude toward doctor visits. Most Americans don’t visit the doctor until they are severely sick or injured, and many times those visits reveal additional health issues that could’ve been detected much sooner.

Schedule quarterly visits

At Mountain Peaks Family Practice, we believe in preventative medicine. By visiting your family doctor every three or four months you can prevent any foreseeable health issues, and you will be better prepared for any concerns that may arise throughout the year.

What about healthcare costs?

Many Americans worry about the cost of visits, but studies show that frequent checkups ultimately save you more money. By detecting symptoms earlier and taking extra precautions, you can avoid the need for expensive treatments or prescriptions.

Who to see and when to see them

  • Family Physician: Every year and at the first sign of illness.
  • Dermatologist: Once a year
  • Gynecologist: Every year after the age of 18.
  • Dentist: Every six months.
  • Optometrist: At least every two or three years.
  • Occupational Therapist: Once a month.
  • Proctologist: Every 10 years, and then every year after age 50.
  • Allergist: Every year and at the first sign of symptoms.
  • ENT (Ears, Nose and Throat): At the referral of your family doctor.
  • Chiropractor: Annually or upon necessity.

Most specialists require a referral from a physician, so if you have a particular health concern, your family doctor is a good place to start. They will know what course of treatment you need, and are connected with the top specialists in your area.

It may be hard, but it’s worth it
