For employers

Primary care your team will actually use.

Direct Primary Care memberships for small businesses in Utah County. A predictable monthly cost per employee, and a local family physician who answers.

Predictable cost

One monthly membership per enrolled employee. No claims, no copays for included services, no year-end surprises from primary care.

Less time lost

Same- or next-day appointments when clinically appropriate, and the Mountain Peaks member app, where employees schedule, message their care provider and view results without leaving their desk.

Real relationships

Employees see a physician who knows them, which is what makes prevention and chronic-condition management work.

How an employer agreement works

  1. We agree on the employee groups to be covered and the monthly rate.
  2. Employees enroll individually through our secure enrollment system.
  3. The business is invoiced monthly for the enrolled roster.
  4. Employees use Mountain Peaks as their primary care practice; you receive no clinical information about them.

Employer group rates are negotiated individually with Dr. Durrans. Call 801.724.9840 to discuss your team and request a quote.

What it does not do

A Direct Primary Care membership is not a health plan and does not satisfy an employer's group health insurance obligations. It pairs with coverage; it does not replace it.

Membership payments qualify as an HSA expense for individual members, and FSA funds may qualify as well; members should check with their plan administrator.

Important information for employers. A Mountain Peaks Family Practice Direct Primary Care membership is an agreement between the practice and the individual patient for a defined set of primary care services in exchange for a periodic fee. Under Utah law a direct primary care agreement is not health insurance, and Mountain Peaks is not an insurer, health plan, health maintenance organization or third-party administrator. Membership does not provide hospital, emergency, specialist, prescription or catastrophic coverage.

A DPC membership is not minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Offering or paying for memberships does not satisfy an employer's obligations under the ACA employer shared responsibility provisions, state insurance law or any collective bargaining agreement, and it is not a substitute for a group health plan. Employees should maintain appropriate health coverage for services outside the practice.

Depending on how an employer sponsors or funds memberships, the arrangement may be treated as a group health plan subject to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, the ACA market reforms and related federal and state requirements, including reporting, disclosure and nondiscrimination rules. Pairing memberships with a health reimbursement arrangement or other account-based plan raises additional compliance considerations. The tax treatment of employer-paid memberships and their effect on employees' eligibility to contribute to a health savings account depend on current federal law and each employee's circumstances.

Mountain Peaks does not provide legal, tax or benefits advice. Employers should consult their own legal counsel, tax advisor and licensed benefits advisor before offering memberships as part of an employee benefit program. Employer agreements are governed by the written agreement between the employer and Mountain Peaks Family Practice; nothing on this page creates an offer, contract or guarantee of availability or pricing.
